Nam Khao – Crispy Rice Salad
Nam Khao is a crispy, warm rice salad traditionally eaten in Laos. We've adapted this delicious dish to be low in histamine for you. Enjoy!

Ingredients for 1-2 people
- 300g cooked Basmati rice
- 2 tbsp HistaFood Organic Vegetable Spread Carrot & Beetroot
- 3 tsp maple syrup
- 3 tsp HistaFood Organic Asian Sauce
dressing
- 2 tbsp HistaFood Organic Asian Sauce
- 1 clove of garlic (1)
- 1 tbsp acerola juice
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 60ml water
- Fresh parsley, coriander and mint
- 3 tbsp coconut flakes
- A handful of macadamia nuts
Additionally
- Lettuce hearts
preparation
- Preheat oven to 200 °C (top/bottom heat).
- Mix cooked rice with HistaFood organic vegetable spread , maple syrup and HistaFood organic Asian sauce.
- Line a baking tray with parchment paper and spread the rice on it.
- Bake in the oven for 30 minutes, stirring halfway through.
- Peel the garlic clove and press it through a garlic press.
- Wash and finely chop the parsley, coriander, and mint.
- Remove the rice from the oven and place it in a bowl.
- Mix together 2 tbsp HistaFood organic Asian sauce , garlic, 1 tbsp acerola juice, 1 tbsp maple syrup, 60 ml water, parsley, coriander, mint, coconut flakes and macadamia nuts.
- Wash lettuce hearts
- Fill the individual leaves with Nam Khao and serve
