Hibiscus and pomegranate iced tea

Refreshing drinks are a must on a warm evening barbecue. This low-histamine hibiscus and pomegranate iced tea is a fruity and delicious way to cool down.  

This recipe is 

  • vegan
  • suitable for a low-histamine diet

  • lactose-free  

Preparation time 

Freeze ice cubes overnight for 15 minutes  

Ingredients for 1-2 people  

ice cubes  

  • 200 ml pomegranate juice  
  • 200 ml water  
  • Pomegranate seeds (1)
  • Mint leaves  

iced tea  

  • 40 g hibiscus tea  
  • 1 liter of water  
  • 2 tablespoons of honey or maple syrup  
  • 2 tablespoons acerola juice  
  • 250 ml pomegranate juice  
  • Pomegranate seeds  

Hibiscus and pomegranate iced tea

preparation 

  • Mix pomegranate juice with water  
  • Distribute pomegranate seeds and mint leaves in an ice cube tray and fill with pomegranate juice/water.  
  • Freeze overnight  
  • Pour 40g of hibiscus tea with one liter of boiling water and let it steep.  
  • Once the tea has cooled, stir in honey or maple syrup, acerola juice, pomegranate juice and pomegranate seeds.  
  • Serve with the pomegranate and mint ice cubes.  

Our HistaFood tip  

For a low-fructose version, you can replace the pomegranate juice with blueberry juice and the pomegranate seeds with wild blueberries. Rice syrup is best for sweetening.
