Oriental spelt waffles with applesauce

Fine notes of cinnamon and cardamom paired with crunchy pomegranate seeds and pistachios make this low-histamine, oriental-inspired spelt waffle with applesauce a real highlight on the breakfast table.

Ingredients for 2 servings

For the waffles

  • 250 g spelt flour
  • 2 heaped tablespoons of flaxseed meal
  • 5 tablespoons applesauce
  • 250 ml water
  • 1/2 pack of cream of tartar baking powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil for baking

For the topping

  • 1/2 pomegranate
  • 6 tablespoons of applesauce
  • 20 g pistachios

preparation

  • Mix the ingredients for the waffles and let them sit briefly.
  • Grease the waffle iron with coconut oil and bake the waffles until they are golden brown.
  • Arrange everything on a plate and garnish with applesauce, chopped pistachios and fresh pomegranate seeds.
